A large earthwork pit, 42 by 52 metres in width, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. It is interpreted as an extraction pit, although it is not clear what material was being extracted. It is not depicted on the available late-19th century mapping and presumably went out of use prior to this date.
