Foster, K. + Skinner, R., 01/2016, A30 to A303 Honiton to Devonshire Inn Improvement Scheme, Honiton, Devon (Report - Assessment). SDV359378.

DBA undertaken along a corridor associated with the A30/A303 between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. This study is intended to inform the development of options for improvements to the A30/A303 between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.

Large irregular house that has been altered many times. The house is first recorded in the late 18th century.

A visit in 1796 records that there are no mansion houses on any of the manors, except Northcote House belonging to the Manor of Northcote. The house is a large irregular building having been enlarged at different times.

Polwhele also states, 'about 150 yards from the front of the house was a hamlet consisting of several houses and cottages leased on the manor of Northcote, but of which, at present, hardly any vestiges remain!'
