An extensive area of large earthwork hollows, irregular in layout with an uneven ground surface, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. On the upslope side they seem to be cut into the hillside forming a scarp alongside a field boundary. The area appears as bare ground on aerial photographs taken in 1947, with a definite drop down from the road and adjacent field boundary. A gravel pit is marked next to the road on the late-19th century mapping, and the earthworks may be the remains of post-medieval or 19th century gravel extraction.
