The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

A possible extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1971 onwards, to the south of Bromfield. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 55m in length by 47m in width and appears to be dissected by, and so pre-dates, a field boundary depicted here on the Parish Tithe Map of approximately 1838-48. The field boundary has since passed out of use. The former extraction pit is located in an area where similar such features have been recorded as part of this survey and remains visible on digital images captured in 2006.
