Parallel linear earthwork banks, circa 3.5 metres in width, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. Their broadly cross-contour orientation is indicative of tree planting banks that were common in orchards of post-medieval or 19th century date. This area is depicted as orchard on the Tithe map and early-20th century OS map, and tree cover obscured the ground surface in many of the available aerial photographs, suggesting that the land continued in use as an orchard into the 20th century.
