Turner, S.C., 2005 - 2006, Devon Historic Landscape Characterisation Mapping (Cartographic). SDV349122.

The surrounding field pattern has been characterised as ield pattern characterised as being probably enclosed in the later medieval period.

Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

A linear ditch or hollow almost 100 metres long and up to 10 metres wide was visible on the north-east facing slopes below Millhayes on aerial photographs of the 1940s onwards and digital images derived from lidar data. The relict earthwork was aligned at either end on the corners of extant boundaries and a boundary here would have defined the south-eastern edge of a small rectilinear field or paddock. The former boundary fell with a field pattern characterised as being probably enclosed in the later medieval period, and the subtle earthworks were therefore probably the remains of a former field boundary of medieval or post-medieval date.
The former boundary earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland. This might support the interpretation that the boundaries were medieval or post-medieval in date but removed before circa 1840.
