An 'Old Chalk Pit' is depicted in this location.

An irregular earthwork pit, up to 60 metres across, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It mostly corresponds to the location of an 'Old Chalk Pit' depicted on the late-19th century mapping, but extends further to the west, suggesting that the pit may have moved eastwards over time. It is close to an extensive area of chalk pits to the north and may have supplied the limekilns associated with these, ceasing operation by the late-19th century.
