The remains of a possible former field boundary of possible medieval to 19th century date were visible as low earthwork banks flanking a shallow earthwork ditch on the north-east facing slopes north of Profits Down Farm, on aerial photographs of 1996.
The earthwork remains are interpreted as evidence of a former field boundary bank and a ditch created by the removal or grubbing up of former hedgerow planting.
The earthworks do not correspond with any field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland and the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, which might support the interpretation that the boundary was removed prior to circa 1840.
