Two roughly circular earthwork pits were visible.

Two possible former extractive pits of probable post-medieval to 19th century date were visible on digital images derived from lidar data as roughly circular earthworks circa 16 and 32 metres in diameter, on the south-west-facing combe slopes north-east of Popehayne Farm, Stockland parish.
The earthworks did not correspond with any pits or quarries depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland or the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. This supports the interpretation that the extractive pits had probably ceased to be exploited prior to the 1840s. The pits probably survive as earthworks.
