A former extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs of the 1980s as a pale cropmark and slight earthwork on the east-facing slopes overlooking the Corry Brook, west of Rose Farm, Stockland.
The earthwork is roughly triangular in shape, measuring approximately 63 metres across at the widest point. The earthwork did not correspond with any pit or quarry depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland or the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map. This might support the interpretation that the extractive pit had ceased to be used prior to the 1840s.
The pit was most clearly visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014, and therefore probably survives as an earthwork.
