A former extractive pit of possible medieval to 19th century date was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 as a roughly oval earthwork up to 25 metres across on the south-west facing slopes above the Corry Brook to the south of Kilderhayes Farm, Stockland parish.
The earthwork did not correspond with any pit or quarry depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland or the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map, which supports the interpretation that use of the extractive pit had ceased by the 1840s at the latest.
The earthwork remained clearly visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and therefore probably survives as an earthwork.
