Three irregular earthwork pits, the largest circa 100 metres across, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1996 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. One is depicted as a pond, and the largest as a wooded and scrubby area, on the available historic mapping, and they are interpreted as the remains of post-medieval or early modern extraction pits that had ceased operation by the late-19th century.
