The remains of ridges, probably made for tree planting or improved drainage from the post-medieval period to 20th century, were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 as low and narrow parallel earthwork banks on the upper east facing slopes of the Corry Brook combe, to the south-west of Dalwood village.
The banks extended over a small area of approximately 0.5 hectares and were spaced up to approximately 5 metres apart. They were visible on two alignments, both oblique to the contours to a greater or lesser degree, presumably to aid drainage. They fell within an area depicted as an orchard on the Tithe Map for Stockland and the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map and are therefore interpreted as ridges made for fruit tree planting and improved orchard drainage.
By 1947 the orchard had been cleared of trees revealing the underlying earthwork banks across much but not all of the orchard plot, and construction of housing on the south-western side of the plot had begun. The orchard has now been entirely redeveloped for housing and light industrial use, and the banks have probably been levelled.
