A former field boundary of probable medieval date was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 as a low curvilinear earthwork bank roughly 3 metres wide flanked by cropmarks of ditches on average circa 2 metres across, on the south-west facing slopes to the south of Lower Corry Farm, Stockland parish.
The earthworks do not correspond with any field boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland, but do appear to be a continuation of a boundary that was marked. This might support the interpretation that the relict earthwork was evidence of an episode of remodelling of the medieval field pattern at Lower Corry prior to 1840.
The remains of this removed boundary, and those of the boundaries immediately to the north that were removed in the 20th century, remain visible as slight earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data.
