An oval earthwork mound or terrace approximately 36 by 30 metres in size was visible on the north-east facing slopes north of Heathstock. The earthwork might be evidence of former quarrying or extractive activity potentially of medieval to post-medieval date.
The earthwork appears to be terraced into the slope, tapering to a narrow ridge downslope. The plot within which the earthwork is located was depicted as an orchard on the Tithe Map for Stockland. The extractive activity that created the earthwork had therefore ceased prior to the 1840s.
