A former field boundary date was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards as an earthwork bank on the east-facing slopes overlooking the Corry Brook, south-west of Rose Farm, Stockland.
The bank does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland. It appears to have abutted doglegs in the extant field boundaries to the north and south, part of a field pattern that has been characterised as probably medieval in date. The removed boundary has therefore been interpreted as evidence of a boundary of medieval date that had been removed prior to the 1840s. The bank also overlies the eastern end of a former extractive pit, recorded separately, that was therefore probably in use during the medieval period.
The bank remains clearly visible on digital images derived from lidar data and therefore probably survives as earthwork.
