An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Upper Hayne Farm. The semi-circular earthwork measures approximately 50m in length by 20m in width and abuts, and so likely post-dates, an historic field boundary along its western edge. The earthwork remains visible as a pit on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2007.
