Former field boundaries of potential medieval date are visible as earthwork ditches on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southeast of Madford Farm, Hemyock. The two parallel boundaries are northwest to southeast aligned and closely respect the historic field patterns classified as ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields’ in the Historic Landscape Characterisation project. The boundaries appear to have passed out of use by the time of the Parish Tithe map of approximatley 1838-48.
