Extraction pits of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1989 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Madford Farm, Hemyock. The three adjacent earthworks are semi-circular and irregular in shape and are situated on gentle northwest facing slope. The northern two earthworks abut a field boundary along its northern edge, whilst that to the south abuts a road along its western edge. The earthworks are located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded as part of this survey.
