Cropmarks which have formed over an infilled ditch of a potential medieval field boundary are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Collinshayne House, Hemyock. The slight curvilinear boundary is east to west aligned and closely respects the historic field boundaries depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48, although the boundary appears to have passed out of use by this time. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project lists this area as comprising ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields’. An additional cropmark field boundary ditch is also visible to the north on these aerial photographs, although since it is depicted on the Tithe map it was not transcribed as part of this survey. Cropmarks of this relict field boundary are also visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2014.
