A possible marl pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southeast of Hackpen Cross Way, Uffculme. The earthwork is sub-circular in shape, measures approximately 42m in diameter and is located in close proximity to several ‘Old Marl Pits’ depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The earthwork pit remains visible on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2007.
