A possible earthwork extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible on digital images taken in 2007, at Bowhayes Farm, Culmstock. The earthwork was not, however, clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey which may cast some doubt on the interpretation of this feature.

A possible earthwork extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible on digital images taken in 2007, at Bowhayes Farm, Culmstock. The possible earthwork is oval in shape, measures approximately 25m in length by 20m in width and is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded as part of this survey, as well as several marl pits and a gravel pit depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The earthwork was not, however, clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey which may cast some doubt on the interpretation of this feature.
