Hegarty, C. + Knight, S. + Sims, R., 2016-2018, The Blackdown Hills AONB and East Devon River Catchments National Mapping Programme Project (Interpretation). SDV359463.

Five irregular earthwork pits, the largest circa 37 by 18 metres, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. The largest is depicted as a wooded irregular enclosure on the late-19th century map, and seems to have remained wooded, indicating that the pit was present before the late-19th century. A three-sided feature depicted on the site of one of the other pits may depict the edge of a cut feature. The pits are interpreted as the remains of post-medieval or early modern extraction pits that had ceased operation by the late-19th century.
