A circular feature of uncertain date and function is visible on aerial photographs of 1989, to the north of Nelson Farm, Culmstock. The sub-circular shaped feature measures approximately 48m in diameter and is located on Owleycombe Common. It is possibly visible as a shallow depression. The feature may be of natural origin, represent an area of vegetation clearance, or could also be the site of a former extraction pit. A number of similar such features more conclusively interpreted as extraction pits have been recorded within the wider vicinity and may add some weight to this latter interpretation. It was not clearly visible on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
