A curvilinear earthwork ditch is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and on aerial photographs taken from 1982 onwards. It runs broadly along the contour, only dropping approximately 5 metres over its 350 metre length. It is interpreted as a field gutter working as part of a catchmeadow system of post-medieval or 19th century date. It seems to originate from Waterhouse Farm and may have worked as an ‘integrated’ system to spread manure across the land mixed with water. Possible additional gutters may be located circa 20-22 metres up and downslope, but these were not clearly defined and have not been mapped.
