The extraction pit is faintly visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1950 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the northwest of Hemyock. The earthwork is semi-circular in shape, measures approximately 42m in length by 20m in width and abuts, and so likely post-dates, an historic and extant field boundary along its eastern edge. The earthwork is largely obscured by tree cover on other aerial photographs and digital images.
