Parallel linear earthwork banks, circa 4 metres in width, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and indistinctly on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. Their broadly cross-contour orientation is indicative of tree planting banks that were common in orchards of post-medieval or 19th century date. This area is not depicted as orchard on any of the available historic mapping, and presumably pre-dates the mid-19th century. It is possible that they originally extended more than 100 metres to the south-west, but evidence for this is restricted to the 1947 aerial photographs and cannot be substantiated just from the available aerial imagery.
