Two irregular earthwork pits, 40-45 metres in length, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. They seem to be depicted as ponds on the historic mapping to the east of a large complex of quarry pits and a limekiln, and may be the flooded remains of earlier extraction pre-dating the late-19th century.
