An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southwest of Pitt Farm, Culmstock. The earthwork is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 65m in length by 57m in width and is located in close proximity to a clay pit depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, as well as other similar earthwork pits recorded during this survey. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014.
