An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Dalwood Farm, Culmstock. The earthwork is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 52m in length by 33m in width and is located in proximity to two clay pits depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, as well as other similar earthwork pits recorded during this survey. The site of the extraction pit is depicted as an orchard on the First Edition OS map, which was likely established here following the abandonment of the extraction pit.
