An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the southwest of Woodgate Farm. The earthwork is irregular in shape and measures approximately 140m in length by 50m in width, with earthworks partly depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The extraction pit remains clearly visible as an earthwork on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014. Ponds are depicted here on the 2016 Ordnance Survey MasterMap.
