An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1989 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the southeast of Pitt Farm. The earthwork is irregular in shape and measures approximately 60m in length by 42m in width. It is located within the site of a former orchard which is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s. The extraction pit is obscured by tree cover of this orchard on aerial photographs before 1989.
