An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southeast of Burlehayes Cottage. The earthwork is sub-oval in shape, measures approximately 83m in length by 43m in width and appears to be cut into the northwest side of a combe. The northern edge of the extraction pit is partly depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from aerial photographs taken in 2010.
