An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1946 onwards, to the west of Parklands Farm. The earthwork is sub-rectilinear in shape, measures approximately 47m in length by 41m in width and abuts a now removed field boundary along its southern edge. The site of the extraction pit is located in an area where numerous ‘Old quarries’ and ‘Old clay pits’ are depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, as well as a number of similar such earthworks recorded as part of this survey. The extraction pit remains visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014.
