Extraction pits of between post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1971 and digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the northwest of Millhayes. The two irregular shaped earthworks measure between 30 to 34m in length and approximately 25m in width and are located within the northeast and northwest corners of a field, abutting Withy Lane. The earthworks are located in an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded as part of this survey.
