A possible former field boundary was visible on images derived from lidar data as a slight curvilinear earthwork on the east-facing slopes to the east of Broadhayes House, Stockland. The earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Tithe Map for Stockland, and might therefore have been removed prior to the 1840s. The earthwork changes alignment part-way along its length, turning to the south-west at its southern end. This matches the course of a footpath depicted on both the Tithe Map and OS First Edition 25 inch map. This might support the interpretation that the footpath originally ran along the edge of the former boundary. The field boundaries immediately surrounding Broadhayes have been characterised as being largely of post-medieval character, but it is possible that the relict boundary is of medieval date, predating the post-medieval reorganisation of the field pattern.
