The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014, to the northeast of Byes Farm. The triangular shaped earthwork measures approximately 50m in length by 30m in width. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, the orchard likely being established within the pit following its dis-use. The extraction pit was not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images owing to the tree cover here.
