Extraction pits of between post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1950 onwards, to the southwest of Byes Farm. The two semi-circular shaped earthworks measure 63m in length by 27m in width and 58m in length by 23m in width and are situated either side of an historic field boundary. They remain visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014.
