An irregular earthwork pit, up to 65 metres across, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. It is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit, possibly of post-medieval or early modern date. It is not depicted on the available historic mapping and appears to have been colonised by, or perhaps planted with trees by 1947, suggesting that it had been abandoned some time previously. It may have been partially infilled and levelled as it is only visible as a pale cropmark on the most recent aerial photographs; there is no lidar data for this area but slight earthworks may remain.
