An interrupted elongated pit, up to 200 metres in length and circa 20 metres wide, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s. It is located along the east side of Smallridge Road, which it probably post-dates. No features are depicted in this exact location on the available historic mapping, although a chalk pit is marked immediately to the south (MDV47324) and it is interpreted as a similar post-medieval or early modern extraction pit that became disused before the end of the 19th century. The area has since been landscaped and developed.
