A possible extraction pit of post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Lower Castle Hill Farm. The elongated shaped earthwork measures approximately 60m in length by 30m in width and is located on moderate southeast facing slope, within an area where extensive extractive workings have been recorded during this survey. The earthwork pit remains visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
