A possible extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork cutting and shallow pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the northwest of Oxenpark Farm. The earthworks comprise a well-defined L-shaped cutting, with an area of possible shallow workings on the north side of this. The extent of these earthworks closely correspond to the land parcel here which is first depicted on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48, possibly suggesting that the field boundaries here were established following the abandonment of the workings. These earthworks are partly depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map and remain visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
