Possible tree-planting banks of former post-medieval to 19th century orchards are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, at Pounds House. Orchards are depicted here on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although by the time of aerial photographs of 1947, the orchard trees appear to have been largely cleared. The earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, are northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned and occupy two separate plots of gentle northwest facing slope. The earthwork banks were not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
