Former field boundaries of between medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on Burrow Hill, to the south of Mountshayne Farm. The sinuous earthworks are broadly northeast to southwest and northwest to southeast aligned and are situated on steep northwest facing slope. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project records this area as comprising ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields’, so may in part be of medieval date. The boundaries appear, however, to have passed out of use by the time of the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48. The possible field boundaries were partly visible as vegetation marks on aerial photographs of 1989, although were not clearly seen on other aerial photographs or digital images made available to the survey.
