Possible extraction pits of between medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the south of Regency House. The southern-most earthwork is irregular in shape, measures approximately 70m in length by 10m in width and likely pre-dates an orchard which is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. That to the north is also irregular in shape and measures approximately 22m in length by 7m in width. The earthworks, which do not appear to form part of the natural landform here, are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
