Summary

A possible marl pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southeast of Foxhill Farm. A possible, but uncertain, earthwork mound is also visible to the immediate east of the pit on lider images, although it is unclear whether this represents the remains of a spoil heap or is simply an artefact of the lidar processing.

The earthwork is elongated in shape and measures approximately 91m in length by 30m in width. Marl pits are depicted in close proximity here, suggesting this earthwork was also likely utilised for such. The possible marl pit remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. A possible, but uncertain, earthwork mound is visible to the immediate east of the pit on these images, although it is unclear whether this represents the remains of a spoil heap or is simply an artefact from the lidar processing.
