An earthwork pit measuring circa 63 by 36 metres is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It is likely to be an extraction pit, although it is not clear in this instance what material was being extracted. It is depicted on the historic maps as an area of scrubby ground, and appears to be respected by several conjoining field boundaries in an area characterised as medieval enclosures. It is possible then that the pit pre-dates the field boundaries.
