Two earthwork pits, one either side of a track, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. They are fairly extensive covering a maximum visible extent of circa 63 by 85 metres. The area of the larger pit is depicted as woodland on the Tithe map, but not the first edition OS mapping, when small areas of marshy and scrubby land are depicted within the footprint of the larger pit, and what appears to be an irregular pond within the location of the smaller pit. It is obscured by tree cover on the available aerial photographs, but two ponds are marked on the modern mapping. The earthworks are interpreted as extraction pits that had become disused by the mid-19th century, although it is not clear in this instance what material was being extracted.
