Bluesky International, 2016, LiDAR DTM data (0.5m resolution) Blackdown Hills and East Devon AONBs: 3 transects, LIDAR ST1411 Bluesky International DTM 05-MAY-2016 (Cartographic). SDV359714.

The extraction pits are visible as earthwork pits.

Extraction pits of between medieval to 19th century date are visible as a series of earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Hurst Farm. The earthworks comprise a single large irregular shaped pit, approximately 33m in length by 21m in width, partly encompassed by six smaller, irregular, oval and circular shaped pits of between 7m to 14m in length. They occupy an area of approxiamtely 0.50 hectares. The earthworks were not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
