Earthwork banks of probable post-medieval to 19th century date are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Madford Farm. The three areas of earthwork banks are located to the north, south and west of Madford Farm. Those to the north are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.34 hectares. Those to the south are northwest to southeast aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.21 hectares and those to the west are east to west aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.23 hectares. The earthworks, which are situated on west facing slope, may represent the remains of 18th-19th cultivation banks or represent the site of a former orchard, the banks providing improved drainage and increased soil depth for the fruit trees. Orchards depicted in the vicinity here on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map may give greater support to the latter interpretation. They remain visible as earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
